Android Lollipop is frequently restarting applications on my Nexus 6. Any suggestions?

Help is our middle name & you've come to the right place! This is certainly not something that is supposed to happen after a software update to the phone. An update is supposed to improve things. (Yikes!) Is it only certain applications that are restarting? Do you open up the app & it restarts right away or is it while you are performing a certain function in the app that it restarts? Have you been able to check to see if there are updates to the apps in the Google Play store? Any chance you have tried to uninstall the app & re-install the app? Looking forward to working with you.
