Got mine the day they came out.  I bought it based on the 4G future service here (within the year hopefully) and the 802.11n.  Worked fine I think for the first week...

 

Now, the 3G light stays lit - fine.  Good signal - 3 bars or more consistantly.  But - anywhere from 5 minutes in to 20 minutes into a session on the internet, my Macbook and Mini both crap out on the wireless signal from it.  They lose the signal - drop all connection and then, when I try to reconnect - even forget the password to the network.  Never seen that before.  My wife has an old Mifi - and it works ok.  Nothing like this. 

 

I have tried everything:

 

- Took off security

- b/g only - turned off n

- Added MAC address filter for just my Macbook

- Hard reset back to factory

 

Nothing seems to keep a steady wireless signal to it.  It's not the 3G signal I don't think.  It's the 802.11.  Very odd.

 

FWIW - the latency seems to have climbed as well since I got it.  I did a speedtest at first and had latency in the 50ms range...now when it pings, I get 150 at best...usually 300 and sometimes a ton more. 

 

Haven't done the firmware update yet since I don't own a PC, but will do it at work tomorrow.  Not that anyone has to be, but I'm an IT administrator - this stuff it not foriegn to me.  But this problem is similar to a channel conflict with too much wirless in the area....only issue is I live on a 600 acre farm.  No wireless anywhere around, so that ain't it. 

 

Will post if I find anything.

Uhhh, still having issues! Some days are good no drops, but today back to same old issues of good 4G (Green) singal but connectivity to the MacBook Pro keeps dropping. VZW claims that there are some known issues with 64-bit MAC's, have been instructed to DL and install the new update. Course need a PC to do it, luckily still have one left :smileyhappy:   but after reading other posts seems this may not fix the issue.  :smileysad:

My data card drops out every 2 minutes or so with the latest firmware.  What junk!

Constant disconnects with the internet. Constant disconnects with wireless. Frustrating device. Turned everything off. Start again and wireless connects and I can get to internet finally. Seems very flaky. The reset button is the thing I use most.

 

Today Firmware updated. Set the power setting to no turn off. Got worse.

 

Same location as usual, but no 4G today. And the 3G seems slower than I had with USB-760.

 

Now it is messed up with the internet again.

 

Wish the 30 day return was still in effect.

I did the WPA fix and that resolved the wireless connection cycling up and down.

 

Still, stuck in 3G mode, I think its is having that issue from other devices of not going back to 4G when available. The modem status shows EVDO has signal: 80 and LTE has signal: 107. Maybe bigger numbers aren't better for signal strength?

 

I am running a Java app that loses socket connectivity now and then. I don't see an interruption in secure browser sessions. But the socket is lost and the app doesn't have retry logic, probably for security reasons.

 

Better than it was four hours ago, but not up to what it should be.

Blitz, just a bit more information I've received from my technical team. It is possible the cause of the issue could be your security software on your PC. Firewalls and antivirus programs can sometimes cause frequent disconnects. Not sure if you want to try troubleshooting with either of these functions, but they could in fact be causing the problems.

I don't know how this issue is now marked as "solved" - it's not. 

 

I've upgraded the device, tried every possible setting with security, without security, etc....nothing seems to work.  I still get consent disconnects.  My wife has an old school 3G mifi and it works fine. 

 

And I'm running OS X 10.6.7, but it disconnects my iPhone, iPad, Xbox and even a Windows Xp machine.  Still kicking me off.

 

Calling the store today to see if I can swap this out for one of the new Verizon branded 4G mifi's that came out. 

 

I don't think it's fair to mark this thread as solved, when there are clearly still issues.  Just because the technical team there decideds it MIGHT be a firewall on the client machine or somthing...that doesn't mean it's solved.

This problem is by no means "resolved". I suggest that anyone who is having trouble with this device trade it in for the newest 4G Verizon branded hotspot. Verizon should be testing these devices more before releasing a faulty device. Hopefully, the hotspot  I'm picking up tomorrow will be usable.
