What happens in Las Vegas clearly doesn’t ALWAYS stay in Las Vegas.

At two of this summer’s hottest music festivals – Rock in Rio USA and the recent Electric Daisy Carnival – fans shared a combined total of more than seven terabytes (TB) of data on the Verizon Wireless network. That’s a whole lot of selfies.

To prepare for the influx of more than 400,000 fans over the course of the Electric Daisy Carnival, the Verizon Wireless network team deployed five mobile cell sites known as Cells on Wheels, or COWs, at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway. The COWs boosted wireless coverage and capacity for the carnival’s eight stages, allowing Verizon customers to share 5.1 TB of wireless data.

What’s clear from these stats is that for many fans, the ticket to a great concert experience is not just the live music, but also the shared memories.
